The Verona Fire Department is a combination Fire Department operated by the City of Verona in Dane County Wisconsin.
The Verona Fire Department provides fire and rescue services to a population of approximately 14,000 residents and covers 32 square miles including the Town of Verona out of one station. In addition, we respond and assist Fitch-Rona EMS Paramedics on medical responses.
The personnel makeup of the Department is as follows:
Full-time Staff: we currently have 6 full-time staff members, the Fire Chief, Deputy Chief, 2 Lieutenants, and 2 Firefighters. The Fire Chief and Deputy Chief work Monday through Friday and the other full-time members work four 12-hour days on and four 12-hour days off on a rotating basis every day of the week from 6:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Paid-On-Premise Staff: we utilize the Paid-On-Premise staff (part-time) to augment the full-time staff every day of the week on a 12-hour shift from 6:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Paid-On-Call Staff: we utilize the Paid-On-Call staff to augment the full-time and Paid-On-Premise staff during the day for multi-unit responses, and from 6:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m. every day the Paid-On-Call staff are responsible for all responses.
Paid-On-Call staff are also used to fill open positions during the day as needed and if available.
