Adult Exercise Classes

The Verona Recreation Department offers a variety of exercise classes for adults of all ages.  It is never too late to improve your physical health, and the Rec Department has several fun classes to choose from. 

Walk Run Club


Instructor: Laurie Tackett
Kick of Spring by joining us for a walk/run or combo of both around the neighborhoods of Verona.  Warm-up 5 minutes, walk 1 minute-run 4 minutes for 35-40 minutes, core strength 5 minutes, stretch 5 minutes.  Wear comfortable clothes, good running shoes, and bring a yoga mat or towel and water.  Meet at the VAHS PAC entrance.

Tabata on the Track


Instructor: Laurie Tackett
Challenge yourself to a new workout!  Tabata features 20 second strength activity/10 seconds rest for 4-8 sets.  Class structure: warm-up, Tabata interval, walk 1/4 of the track, repeat, Tabata interval, twice around track.  Stretch.  Required: water, large towel or yoga mat.  Meet at VAHS track.

Trail Walk/Runs 


Instructor: Laurie Tackett 
Enjoy spring by exploring trails offered in and around Verona.  We go off the main streets and onto trails with 1 minute run/1 minute walks. Each class includes a warm-up, trail walk/run and stretch.  Meeting place varies each week.


Yoga


Cassie Slaby
This class is made for all fitness levels and focuses on vinyasa flow mixing in some yin and restorative poses. Cassie hopes that you will find yourself inspired and also notice enhanced flexibility, strength and less stress with each class.  Location: Badger Ridge Step Room.

About our Instructors:
  • Laurie Tackett has a Bachelor of Science in Community Health Education and Corporate Fitness from UW-La Crosse.  Specializing in Community Health Education and Corporate Fitness, Laurie has been involved in the exercise and fitness industry for over 30 years.  She has completed three full triathlons and is an avid runner/walker.  Laurie loves anything to do with fitness and has a wealth of knowledge to share.  
  • Cassie Slaby has been practicing yoga for a little over 3 years.  She received her 200 hour certification through Dragonfly Hot Yoga in 2016. Cassie is passionate about yoga and loves sharing her passion with everyone.
